2017 National Day Honours: MBI staff member Tan Bee Lay awarded Long Service Medal
LEE S C Cynthia | DECEMBER 2017
Congratulations to MBI’s own Tan Bee Lay for her award of the Long Service Medal by the President of the Republic of Singapore in recognition of her contributions to the University.
Tan Bee Lay (R), seen here with the Director of NUS’ Office of Human Resources, Bhupinder Singh.
Bee Lay is the first at MBI to have received a medal as part of Singapore’s National Day honours.
Republic of Singapore Long Service Medal.
Bee Lay was one of the pioneering staff members who joined MBI when it was established. Together with Caroline Wang (former PA to the Director) and Cynthia Lee (current Administrative Director), Bee Lay anchored MBI’s administrative team in functioning as the early procurement, finance and HR units before being assigned exclusively in MBI’s HR division.
Bee Lay’s service at NUS commenced in 1992 when she joined the Dean’s Office (Medicine). Thereafter she served at National University Medical Institutes (15 years), Department of Biological Sciences (2 years), and MBI (from 2011).
It is with great pride that the Mechanobiology Institute joins the National University of Singapore in extending its appreciation for Bee Lay’s excellent service and unwavering dedication.
