Ms. Thiagarajan joined the Bershadsky Lab at the Mechanobiology Institute, National University of Singapore, as a Research Associate in 2011. The Bershadsky lab carries out multiple, complex projects aimed at understanding the mechanisms regulating the crosstalk between the cytoskeleton and cell adhesions during fundamental cellular processes. Over the years, Ms. Thiagarajan has provided essential contributions to several of these projects, by helping with biochemical assays, cellular imaging, and other experimental techniques.
In addition to assisting with experiments, Ms. Thiagarajan also provides administrative support by serving as the safety in-charge for the lab. She has been a co-author in several studies from the Bershadsky Lab published in high-impact journals, including Nature Materials and Nature Cell Biology. During her years at MBI, Ms. Thiagarajan has also won several internal awards, including first and third prizes in the 5th and 10th MBI Microphotography competitions, respectively.
Ms. Thiagarajan was nominated by Prof. Alexander Bershadsky and Senior Research Fellow Dr Yee Han Tee for her selfless and valuable contributions to the Bershadsky lab and is truly deserving as a top ten winner of the Asian Scientist Lab Tech of the Year 2019 award.
The MBI community proudly congratulates Ms. Thiagarajan.
