MBI welcomes students from Seoul National University (SNU)

SRUTHI JAGANNATHAN | JANUARY 2019

On Wednesday, 9th of January 2019, the MBI hosted a group of 20 students from the Seoul National University (SNU), as part of an outreach programme. The students were participants of an academic exchange programme, organized by the Special Programme in Science (SPS) Unit at the National University of Singapore, in collaboration with the Global Leadership Programme (GLEAP) initiative at the Seoul National University.

The visit started off with a highly engaging and informative talk by MBI Principal Investigator A/Prof Yusuke Toyama, who introduced the students to the concept of mechanobiology and acquainted them with the interdisciplinary nature of research at MBI, and the diverse applications that it has in various scientific areas.

This was followed by short talks by Senior Research Fellow Dr Tee Yee Han and Research Fellow Dr Oh Dongmyung, on their respective topics of research at MBI.

Further to the talks, the students toured the MBI labs and got familiarized with the methodology and applications of state-of-the art techniques like microfabrication, micropatterning, and superresolution microscopy through demonstrations conducted by MBI researchers.
