About Prof Hamant’s Research
Olivier Hamant is Director of Research at INRA in the Plant Reproduction and Development Laboratory, at the École normale supérieure (ENS) in Lyon. As a biologist, he tries to understand how plants use forces to control their development, combining approaches of molecular and cellular biology, mechanics and modeling. He has received several awards, including the “laurel young researcher” of INRA. Alongside this research, he is engaged in a training program exploring the many implications of the Anthropocene at ENS Lyon and with the House of World Cultures in Berlin. Echoing his biological research and the Anthropocene, he participated in several projects involving the humanities and the arts, particularly around issues of complexity, resilience and fragility of biological systems.
