Seeking Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Chan Laboratory, Mechanobiology Institute, National University of Singapore
Job description
The Mechanobiology Institute, Singapore, is a multidisciplinary institute committed to developing new paradigms for biomedical research by focusing on the quantitative analysis of dynamic functional processes. Through quantitative biophysical approaches, we address major problems in biomedical sciences, including pathogenesis (from bacterial to cancer), tissue regeneration, and function.
Asst. Prof. Chan seeks a highly motivated individual to join his laboratory on Mammalian Development and Tissue Hydraulics as a postdoctoral fellow at the Mechanobiology Institute in the National University of Singapore. This position is offered under a highly interdisciplinary project that aims to understand collective dynamics of follicles in mammalian ovarian development and ageing.
Project Scope
The candidate will investigate the mechanobiological principles regulating follicle-follicle interactions and their functions in selective growth, movement and ovulation. The selected candidate will combine ex vivo approaches with advanced imaging, biomechanics and genetic tools to study these processes. There is also scope for exploring dysfunctions of mechanobiology and collective dynamics during ovarian ageing. To learn more, please refer to the relevant publication by the lab: (1) Front Cell Dev Biol. 2022; 10: 1038107 (2) bioRxiv 2024.05.06.592641.
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a PhD, or be in the final stages of their PhD, in one of the disciplines below:
- Life Sciences
- Biophysics
- Bioengineering
Skills and Experiences
- Confocal bioimaging and image analysis
- Some experience in cell/ molecular/ tissue biology
- Highly motivated and independent; open to feedback
- Good communication skills; able to work well in an interdisciplinary team
Salary and benefits are commensurable to educational qualifications and working experience of the candidates.
