Biography
Haoqiu Liu studied biotechnology at Sichuan University in China and trained at the State Key Laboratory of Biotherapy under Professor Yuquan Wei. He obtained his Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore under Professor Wong Sek Man, where he developed aptamer-based probes for virus detection, patented a national invention, and uncovered a role of PI(3,5)P₂ in viral invasion through autophagy. After graduation, he continued vector–virus research with temporal–spatial transcriptomics at the NUS Suzhou Research Institute in collaboration with A*STAR GIS, and later taught high school biology, where his students won national and international awards and he received multiple teaching prizes. He subsequently pursued postdoctoral research on autophagy in Arabidopsis at the State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, before joining Alphée Michelot’s group at the Mechanobiology Institute, NUS, in 2025 as a Research Fellow to investigate the mechanics driving subcellular biological activities.
Technical Skills
Molecular cloning, biochemistry, cell biology, super resolution bioimaging, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, etc.
