MBI PI Shailaja Seetharaman awarded the Yamaguchi Medal 2026

Congratulations to MBI Principal Investigator and Asst. Prof. Shailaja Seetharaman on receiving the Asian-Pacific Association for Biomechanics (APAB) Yamaguchi Medal for Biomechanics (2026) during the 10th World Congress for Biomechanics (WCB 2026) that took place in Vancouver, Canada from 11-15 July.

She was awarded a Yamaguchi Medal in the category of Cell and Molecular Biomechanics for her research on decoding mechano-chemical feedback loops to engineer vascular tissue physiology, which she presented during a special session at WCB 2026.

The purpose of the Yamaguchi Medal is to support and encourage outstanding early career researchers in the field of biomechanics within in the Asian-Pacific region. The Medal is named after Professor Takami Yamaguchi who is the Founding Chair of APAB, established in 2005.
