Seeking Laboratory Technologist (Wet Lab Core Facility) at the Mechanobiology Institute, NUS
The Mechanobiology Institute, Singapore is a multi-disciplinary institute committed to developing new paradigms for biomedical research by focusing on the quantitative analysis of dynamic functional processes. Through quantitative biophysical approaches, we address major problems in biomedical sciences including pathogenesis (from bacterial to cancer), tissue regeneration and function.
Job Description
We are currently seeking to recruit a Laboratory Technologist for our Wet Lab Core Facility.
Responsibilities
The candidate’s responsibilities will include:
- Collecting and sterilizing of biohazard waste
- Replenishing consumables stock and house-keeping of laboratory store, tissue culture facilities, core facilities room and sample preparation room
- Washing of glassware and replenishing glassware in cabinets
- Providing autoclaving services of labware and media to research personnel
- Attending to lab deliveries
- Assisting in lab consumables purchases
- Assisting in laboratory operation activities as and when required
- Assisting in chemical waste collection by hazardous waste collection company
- Preparation of 70% ethanol
- Changing of gas cylinders
- Performing stand-in duties when necessary
Requirements
- Minimum “N” level
- Able to speak and read English
- Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Excel and Outlook for emails
- Hard working, responsible and proactive
- N95 mask fit-testing mandatory
- Prior working experience in a biological research laboratory will be an added advantage
