The Mechanobiology Institute, Singapore is a multidisciplinary institute committed to developing new paradigms for biomedical research by focusing on the quantitative analysis of dynamic functional processes. Through quantitative biophysical approaches, we address major problems in biomedical sciences including pathogenesis (from bacterial to cancer), tissue regeneration, and function.

Job description

We are seeking to recruit a Research Assistant to work in the research group of Prof. Alexander Bershadsky at the Mechanobiology Institute, NUS. The Bershadsky group is interested in cytoskeleton-dependent mechanotransduction and adhesion-dependent mechanosensitivity mechanisms found in cells. The group explores these themes using super-resolution microscopy, optogenetics and microfabricated substrates. This is an excellent entry-level job for candidates interested in pursuing postgraduate studies and/or developing skillsets in cellular imaging and image analysis.

Specifically, the candidates responsibilities will include:

  • Performing cell culture assays
  • Molecular work
  • Microscopy and image analysis
  • Assisting in lab procurement and assume the role of lab safety lead
