2022 East Asian
Single-Molecule
Biophysics
Symposium

18th – 20th October 2022

EASMB 2022

Probing the Molecular Mechanisms and Physical Principles of Biological Processes Using Single-Molecule Approaches

Single-molecule imaging and manipulation technologies have provided powerful methodologies for the examination of the molecular mechanisms and physical principles underlying many essential biological processes. These approaches provide unprecedented insights into the mechanisms of the highly dynamic biomolecular conformations, structural transitions, movements, interactions, and assembly into higher order functional complexes.

Hosted by the Mechanobiology Institute (MBI), National University of Singapore, this symposium provides a forum for the world-leading East Asian scientists to share recent advances in field of single-molecule biological sciences, discuss future applications of single-molecule tools in various areas of biology, and build rapport for a wider and closer community in this increasingly important region.

Brief History of EASMB

The first East Asian Single Molecule Biophysics Symposium was held in 2018 in Okayama, Japan, and the second was held at Seoul National University, Seoul. The third meeting was planned to be held in person in Chengdu, China in 2020 and the fourth meeting was scheduled to be held in Singapore in 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the third meeting was postponed. As of 2022, the EASMB committee have decided that the third meeting will be hosted (virtually) by the Mechanobiology Institute, National University of Singapore.
