SUMMARY:Bootcamp on Mechanobiology
DESCRIPTION:This nine-day “Bootcamp” style course will cover fundamental concepts and practical approaches in understanding cellular functions. The focus is to develop a breadth of knowledge in quantitative techniques to allow bioscience researchers to pursue further depth in their respective research work. \nMajor topics include: gene editing\, cellular structure and processes\, statistics\, bio-imaging\, image analysis\, modelling\, and quantitative methods in biology. There will be extensive tutorials in using Matlab\, complemented by hands-on microscopy and wet-lab sessions.  Students will work as part of a team to tackle problems and to develop a report on an open area of modern bioscience research. \nThe Bootcamp lectures are open to all interested graduate students and post-docs. For graduate students the lectures will be reinforced in thematic-based practicals\, leading to 2-MC. \nDates: 5 August to 13 August 2016\nWhere: CREATE Theatrette\, Level 2\, 1 CREATE Way\, CREATE Tower\, NUS \nSpeakers\n\n\n\nProf Michael SHEETZ\nProf Peter SO\nspace\nAsst Prof CARRASCO\nAssoc Prof Neil CLARK\nAssoc Prof HE Cynthia\nAsst Prof Pakorn Tony KANCHANAWONG\nProf Patrice KOEHL\nAssoc Prof Shee Mei LOK\nAssoc Prof Antonia MONTEIRO\nAsst Prof Fumio MOTEGI\nDr ONG Lee Ling Sharon\nDr Catherine PAN\nAsst Prof Timothy SAUNDERS\nAsst Prof Yusuke TOYAMA\nDr Ricksen WINARDHI\nAssoc Prof Thorsten WOHLAND\nDr Jeffrey YONG\nAsst Prof Ronen ZAIDEL-BAR\n\n\n\nProgram Schedule\nThere are two schedules: 1. Open Lectures and 2. for Registered Students (leading to 2-MC). \nRegistration\nThere are two types of registration:  1. Open registration (for Open lectures) and 2. Student registration (leading to 2-MC). \nNOTE: Graduate students who would like to read MB5104 as a graded module and counted towards CAP.
