SUMMARY:MBI Women in Science talk: My journey from cytosol to cell wall by Prof Manjula Reddy
DESCRIPTION:Women in Science talk\nMy journey from cytosol to cell wall\nby Prof. Manjula Reddy\, CCMB Hyderabad \nA reception will be held afterward in the 10th floor lobby of MBI. \nResearch Interests: Our laboratory is interested in studying prokaryotic cell division (cytokinesis) and its regulation using a Gram-negative model bacterium\, Escherichia coli K12 and Mycobacterium smegmatis\, a surrogate model organism that is used to understand the biology of M. tuberculosis\, a human pathogen that causes tuberculosis. \nSelected Publications \n\nParveen\, S.\, and M. Reddy (2017) Identification of YfiH (PgeF) as a factor contributing to the maintenance of bacterial peptidoglycan composition (in press\, Mol Microbiol)\nSingh SK\, Parveen S\, SaiSree L\, Reddy M. (2015) Regulated proteolysis of a cross-link specific peptidoglycan hydrolase contributes to bacterial morphogenesis. Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 112: 10956-10961.\nMahalakshmi\, S.\, M. R. Sunayana\, L. SaiSree\, and M. Reddy. (2014) yciM is an essential gene required for regulation of lipopolysaccharide synthesis in Escherichia coli. Mol Microbiol 91: 145-157.\nSingh SK\, L SaiSree\, RN Amrutha and M Reddy. 2012. Three redundant murein endopeptidases catalyse an essential cleavage step in peptidoglycan synthesis of Escherichia coli. Mol Microbiol 86: 1036-1051
