SUMMARY:Theory Journal Club Meeting: Propagating Long-Range Forces on Weakly Adhesive Substrates by Yuting Lou
DESCRIPTION:I would like to announce the next MBI Theory Journal Club meeting hosted by Dr. Yuting Lou (Hiraiwa group). Yuting will introduce her new preprint [ https://arxiv.org/abs/2107.03074 ] about the role of ECM dynamics in mediating long-range mechanical forces. \nDate: 11 August 2021\, Wednesday\nTime: 14:00 SGT\nVenue: Zoom \nTheory Journal Club Meeting: Propagating Long-Range Forces on Weakly Adhesive Substrates\nBy Yuting Lou\, Research Fellow\, MBI \nMeeting Summary\nIn their preprint\, Yuting and colleagues reveal a striking mechanism of dynamic force propagation in a substrate under a tissue. During the meeting\, Yuting will explain why this phenomenon only occurs with substrates that are able to slide but not with a conventional TFM protocol. She will also cover the details of a theoretical model they use to predict the experimental data and also related techniques in processing the data.
