SUMMARY:MBI Seminar: Interference based mapping of membrane fluctuations and mechanics in nucleated adherent cells by Arikta Biswas
DESCRIPTION:MBI Seminar\nTime: 4.00pm\nDate: Thurs\, 6 May 2021 \nInterference based mapping of membrane fluctuations and mechanics in nucleated adherent cells\nBy Arikta Biswas\, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata\, India \nHost: Chii Jou Chan \nBiography\nArikta Biswas was an Integrated PhD student at the Department of Biological Sciences in Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata. She worked on setting up interference as a tool to map membrane mechanics at the Cell Biophysics Lab during her PhD work. And she received her degree in June 2020 for her thesis entitled “Interference based mapping of membrane fluctuations and mechanics in nucleated adherent cells”. She has a Bachelors’ degree in Engineering (Biotechnology) and is interested in using multi-disciplinary approaches to study the mechanical properties of living systems at different levels of organization. \n\n  \n\nFind Help\nNon MBI staff who are interested in attending should contact Qiao Jing at mbilqj@nus.edu.sg for Zoom details. If you are having difficulty connecting\, contact the MBI ITCore at mbit@nus.edu.sg.

SUMMARY:MBI Seminar: Dissecting the role of tissue-specific cancer-associated fibroblasts in the prostate tumour microenvironment by Anna Jaeschke
DESCRIPTION:MBI Seminar\n\n\n\nTime: 4.00pm\nDate: Monday\, 10 May 2021 \nDissecting the role of tissue-specific cancer-associated fibroblasts in the prostate tumour microenvironment\nBy Anna Jaeschke\, Queensland University of Technology\, Australia (Host: Chii Jou Chan) \nBiography\nAnna is a biomedical scientist with a background in bioengineering and medical biology. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science from the University in Tuebingen\, Germany\, she received a Master of Science degree from the Technische University Dresden\, Germany. During the Master’s course\, Anna joined several research groups in Germany\, Sweden\, and the US to work on clinically-focused research projects. Her interest in tissue engineering and 3D cell culture techniques led her to Australia\, where she enrolled in a PhD program at the Queensland University of Technology\, under the supervision of Dr Laura Bray and Distinguished Professor Dietmar W. Hutmacher. Anna’s PhD project was focused on using bioengineered cancer models to gain a deeper understanding of the role of the tumour microenvironment in prostate cancer. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\nFind Help\nNon MBI staff who are interested in attending should contact Qiao Jing at mbilqj@nus.edu.sg for Zoom details.
