SUMMARY:Modelling Neural Disorders Using Human Pluripotent Stem Cells by Hyunsoo Shawn Je
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to inform you on the seminar of Prof. Hyunsoo Shawn Je\, hosted by Prof. Yusuke Toyama “Modelling Neural Disorders Using Human Pluripotent Stem Cells” on 26th Oct (Monday) @ 4pm via Zoom. \nMBI Seminar\nTime: 4.00pm\nDate: Monday\, 26 October 2020\nVenue: Online seminar via ZOOM \nModelling Neural Disorders Using Human Pluripotent Stem Cells\nBy Prof. Hyunsoo Shawn Je\, Associate Professor\, Duke-NUS Medical School\, Singapore \nThe ability to make functional neural cells from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) provides a unique opportunity to study human brain development and neural disorders. In this seminar\, I will present recent findings from our laboratory -1) the direct induction and functional maturation of human forebrain glutamatergic and GABAergic neurons derived from hPSCs (Sun et al.\, 2016)\, 2) the generation of human midbrain-like organoids from hPSCs (Jo et al.\, 2016; Kwak et al.\, 2020)\, and 3) their utilities in modelling human brain disorders (Sun et al.\, 2019). \nMBI Seminar Fully Webcasted\nIf you need help connecting\, contact MBI ITCore at mbit@nus.edu.sg.
